  • A core component of EA NYC's programming is designed to foster community and support community members. We work to create opportunities for both those already highly engaged in effective altruism and those new to the movement to learn, deepen their engagement, collaborate, and become inspired. EA NYC hosts weekly events, provides one-on-one career advising, and is in the process of opening a community center and coworking space. As the city reopens, we are looking to scale our community-building agenda and community-focused team. • EA NYC community programming also shapes the culture and norms of the EA movement at large and attracts a global audience.

    • EA NYC community programming often serves as the primary touchpoint for those new to EA or NYC and can make or break someone’s continued involvement in the community.

    • Community programming leads to high-impact connections, mentorships, employment, donations, and collaborations.

    • Community programming helps people learn about new ideas in the rapidly evolving EA ecosystem, improve their plans, and coordinate.

    Responsibilities may include:

    • Assisting in the hiring of and directly managing a growing team of community-focused EA NYC staff, and assisting in their responsibilities as needed.

    • You have managerial experience and are able to manage successfully in a startup environment in which roles are new and malleable.

Note: For this role, we are specifically looking for someone with managerial experience. If you do not have managerial experience, we encourage you to submit an expression of interest for one of the other EA NYC community roles.

    • You are gregarious and ready to welcome new community members to EA NYC.

    • You have experience with event organizing, including events with 50+ attendees.
