The EA NYC Annual Picnic is a 125+ person, one-day event to be held on July 20, 2024, from 11 am to 8 pm in Lower Manhattan. Based on our popular 2021 and 2023 Picnic conferences, the event will feature a full day of discussion, connection, food, and games!
We hope you’ll join us to catch up with friends, connect with new people, and discuss ideas while enjoying delicious vegan food and a beautiful garden space. The event will include thematic discussions, one-on-one meetings, cause area and occupational networking, and fun and games. Think of the event as an outdoor, one-day EA conference with no formal talks — just good conversations and relaxed fun.
Logistics
Food
A full lunch and dinner will be provided from local vegan establishments. Snacks and beverages will be available throughout the day.
Weather
Due to projected inclement weather, we rescheduled the Picnic to July 20th. The garden space is heavily shaded, but we still encourage you to dress for July.
Venue
The event will take place entirely outdoors (with the exception of indoor bathrooms) on the spacious garden grounds of a historic church building in lower Manhattan that dates back to 1795! We also want to note that the outdoor space is home to several historic stone burial vaults and you will see some headstones onsite during the event. We ask that all attendees respect the space during the Picnic
New to the community?
We expect the Picnic to be a good fit for people who are excited about the potential of putting EA principles into action through their donations, volunteering, or career plans. All community members, new or experienced, are welcome to apply. Don’t worry if you don’t know many (or any) other people in the community; we’ll have lots of social activities to help you settle in.
How to attend
You'll need to submit a short application form. We’ll approve applications on a rolling basis, after which you can purchase your ticket. The ticket cost covers both lunch and dinner. Capacity is limited, so make sure to apply soon!
We don’t want anyone to miss the event for financial reasons. If needed, you can request discounted/free tickets in the application form.
If you have further questions about the event, please feel free to reach out to us at events@effectivealtruism.nyc. We look forward to seeing you!
